The kinetic Liberty Bell in the outfield of Citizens Bank Park, home of the Philadelphia Phillies, is an iconic feature of the ballpark. In late 2021, köllab was hired as a project consultant to assess the current state of the installation and recommend possible renovation options. Without taking away from the spirit of the bell, the motion, lighting and controls systems were all upgraded for the 2022 season to modernize it.
More specifically, the renovation included a new hydraulic power unit, addressable LED neon lighting strips, LED pucks, lighting and motion control systems to leverage the full potential of the upgrade. The LED strips are capable of delivering an almost infinite number of lighting effects and have enough resolution to handle basic video content.
köllab remained onboard as a project consultant through execution. The refreshed Liberty Bell was revealed to fans at the Phillies Opening Day on April 8, 2022.
